Health and wellness is not just a profession for Maryann, it's her passion.  She has 15 years of experience working with clients striving to optimize their health potential.

She began her career in the health and wellness industry in 1993 as an ACE Certified Group Fitness Instructor and ACE Certified Personal Trainer at Chinn Fitness and Aquatics located in Woodbridge, Virginia. 

After completing her certification in Older Adult Fitness and Osteoporosis in 1996, she became the Operations Manager at the Westminster Retirement Community in Lake Ridge, Virginia. She managed a staff of 4 trainers and implemented specialized exercise programs for 3 levels of residents:  independent, assisted living and those requiring full time nursing care.  As an advocate for living a healthy lifestyle, she also spoke at monthly educational wellness seminars for this community.  In 2000, she completed her certification as a Medical Exercise Specialist through the American Academy of Health, Fitness and Rehabilitation, bridging the gap between health care and fitness.  

Maryann opened ReKonnect in 2003 after being awarded her Muscle Activation Techniques™ (MAT) Specialist certification upon completion of the rigorous 10-month internship program at the MAT Clinic in Denver, Colorado.  She keeps current with new knowledge and techniques by attending MAT master courses in such areas as Neurophysiology, Upper Body, Trunk and Spine, Lower Body and Advanced Foot Function.  Additionally, she completed a Cadaver Anatomy and Mechanics course where she experienced the musculoskeletal system in 3-Dimensions, while examining the mechanical ability of all tissues involved in motion.

Maryann is the owner of ReKonnect located in Woodbridge, Virginia, specializing in Muscle Activation Techniques™ (MAT).  She has been a resident of Prince William County, Virgina, for 21 years, is a business member of the Prince William County Regional Chamber, and is an active member of the Chamber’s Health and Wellness Council promoting community healthy lifestyle awareness.
