My son Cole is 13 years old and plays on a travel baseball team. This past spring he had some arm and shoulder pain, so we took him to an orthopedic doctor. The diagnosis was separation of the growth plate in his right shoulder. He was told to stop throwing and rest his arm for a minimum of 6-8 weeks. When asked about physical therapy, the doctor said it was not needed and rest was the best thing. The diagnosis was hard to take as you can imagine for an active boy who loves the game of baseball. We took the doctor’s advice, but also spoke to our friend who Cole had been receiving chiropractic adjustments from. He recommended us to seek a consultation with Maryann and try this new Muscle Activation Technique. Although we read the Rekonnect pamphlet given to us, we were still not sure what to expect. After Cole’s first visit with Maryann, we could really tell that this technique could make a difference in his recovery. Over several months he had therapy every two weeks working the muscles in this area. With each visit his mobility in his arm increased and the pain decreased. Maryann really helped in the process of healing his arm. As of now Cole has not had any shoulder pain. After a recent 6 month checkup with the orthopedic doctor, Cole’s arm is half way healed. Although the doctor did not think therapy was necessary, we believe the Muscle Activation Techniques really helped in the healing process.

After suffering with severe hip pain in both hips for almost 5 years, I met Maryann and heard about Muscle Activation Technique. I had seen countless specialists and received physical therapy, but got no relief. The pain was so great that I was unable to participate in many physical activities that I have enjoyed over the years. Maryann conducted a thorough assessment including a history of my past injuries which included a catastrophic injury to my left shoulder 30 years ago. Maryann focused on the muscles in my shoulders, neck and trunk. She explained carefully what she was doing and gave me "homework" exercises to do. After a short time, I saw major improvements. I am now totally pain free and back to participating in the physical activities that I enjoy so much.

Muscle Activation Techniques...I had not heard of this therapy procedure prior to seeing a demonstration of the muscle activation method at a Health Seminar. I was impressed with the immediate positive affect Maryann’s volunteer patient experienced.
I have been suffering with muscle weakness, especially numbness in my feet, for several years that affected my sense of balance. My evaluation appointment was very interesting, and I knew it was something I needed to try. I signed up for five appointments. My muscle damage did not happen over night, and I expected more than one appointment would be most beneficial for me. After two sessions, I could see a difference in my gait as well as my balance. After four appointments, I was able to stand still with my eyes closed without the fear of falling. This was a task I had not been able to do for a number of years. I cannot express what a thrill that accomplishment was for me. This has been a fascinating an exciting experience. The expense for me has been the best investment I could possibly make for, not only my health, but for my life.
I am grateful to Maryann for restoring my ability to live an enjoyable and comfortable lifestyle once again.

I was referred to MAT from a friend; having never heard of it before. I was eager to try this as I was having progressive knee pain from an old sporting injury that worsened after the birth of my son. When I went to see Maryann I was limping and truly struggling to walk. After one appointment I was able to walk with less pain and more upright. After several sessions I was noticing a definite improvement where I could go up and down the stairs easier and walk in normal shoes. This was a nice spring board toward my overall knee recovery.

Thanks to my sessions with Maryann and Muscle Activation Technique, I am more efficient and effective in all of my physical activities…belly dance, boxing, yoga and even running after grandbabies.
I began seeing Maryann due to a boxing injury. Doctors told me to stop boxing or take drugs for the pain and inflammation in my elbow…both unacceptable. Maryann discovered a shoulder issue that was affecting the way I threw a punch. I was re-injuring myself every time I boxed. Now my punches are straight, come from the shoulder and take much less effort to execute.
During our sessions I confessed that I could not sit up or raise my legs while lying on my back. After Maryann tested the corresponding muscles and worked her magic, I left the session being able to sit up and lift my legs. My yoga and pilates classmates were amazed at the difference. Now I can actually do the abdominal exercises using my abdominal muscles instead of just attempting them with anything I can.
Maryann discovered that some of my very tired and hurting muscles were overworked due to other sleeping muscles. Once awake/activated, my belly dance moves and yoga poses became much easier. Since all of the muscles are now working together I feel pleasantly tired (not hurting) after belly dance, yoga or pilates class….just as it should be.

I am 58 years old, an avid skier and general outdoor
enthusiast. I have always been active and enjoy being so. I ski about 30 days per year, at various
locations out west and north. I have
owned a business for 30 years that keeps me physically active outdoors in the
summer on uneven grassy terrain, mostly walking fast. At age 49 I took up
in-line skating and was even in a marathon to raise money for the Leukemia
Society. I have a stretching routine that I do daily to keep flexible. I hardly
ever have sports related injuries because I stretch. At age 51 I took a fall,
while skating, that broke my collar bone. Since then I have been plagued with
various problems, (knee, ankle, and foot) many of which have kept me from doing
my stretching and skating. I refuse to give up, though. While I’m skiing I
don’t have a problem, but walking to and from the slopes is extremely painful.
Forget about walking for exercise, just walking to the bathroom kills me.
I was referred to Maryann Jackson by a personal trainer I met.
I had been suffering from a really bad case of Plantar Fascitis for about 11
months. This was my fourth bout with Plantar Fascitis, which I seem to contract
about once a year or so. It usually lasted about 6 months and would gradually
go away by itself. I had been told because of my skeleton that I would be prone
to getting it. This was the worst case
ever and seemed to just get worse with everything I tried. I had been to my
Physician, a Chiropractor, a Podiatrist, and an Acupuncturist- to no avail. I
had custom orthotics, a cortisone shot, had my foot and ankle adjusted, stretching
exercises to do before I got out of bed in the morning (try telling that to a
full bladder), many Acupuncture sessions, foot massages, pain medication, I
even wore a “boot” to bed to keep my foot perpendicular to my leg while I tried
to sleep, because the pain was so excruciating every morning when I got out of
bed. I had a horrible limp, as I tried to keep weight off of it as much as
possible. This caused other structural problems to manifest.
Maryann was able to find the root cause of the problem using Muscle Activation Techniques. She then taught me isometric exercises to strengthen
them. I stand in awe of how she has been able to help me reclaim my physical
health by re-balancing my skeleton by re-activating my muscles. I am very happy to say that I have
been Plantar Fascitis free for almost 4 years.

While skiing I suffered a multiple trauma accident. When it was all over, I’d broken five ribs; lacerated my spleen; broken the neck of my right femur; and broken two vertebrae in my back (T3 & T4). With the help of some pretty fantastic surgeons and medical care teams at UVA Hospital, I avoided death and some pretty good odds of some kind of paralyzation. Of course prayer had a lot to do with my success in this area…my own and more people around the world than I’ll ever know, for sure.
I came home from the rehabilitation hospital (I was leaving medical facilities a lot faster than they had originally thought that I would) and Bette thought that it would be a good idea to contact Maryann to see if she could come over and at least assess the damage and perhaps figure out a way to help with my recuperation. Maryann came to our house and, after gingerly testing my resistances here and there, proclaimed that, although there had been a lot of damage, she was encouraged by my progress and that she would do what she could to get me back to “normal”.
When I first got well enough to get to Maryann’s, I was still pretty fragile and using a walker to get around. To get to her massage table, I clutched the stair railing for dear life, and slowly, step-by-step, worked my way up the stairs to her table. I was in such bad shape, still, that I couldn’t untie my shoes so Maryann did it for me. Once I made it up on the table, Maryann was wondering where she could even start to touch me, without causing me any kind of pain. I was really a mess, but I was alive…and that was a good thing! And I knew I was in the best of hands.
The progress was slow, at the start. I could barely sit up tall on the table, let alone do some of the things Maryann asked of me. Something as simple as raising my left arm was a chore because it was limited in motion, as well as being painful all along the ribs on that side. But, true to form, Maryann was extremely patient with me and, together, we worked what we could. Although way too slow for my taste, the progress Maryann could see was keen. I’d never been through anything like this, before, but she was a master at getting muscles reactivated and she saw the potential. She was so encouraging and optimistic at the seemingly minute improvements she was seeing and that made a huge difference in my attitude.
Before I knew it, I had gone from barely being able to turn over, from front to back on the massage table, to getting up from a lying position without any kind of pain, whatsoever! Talk about your miracles!!!
I continued on with Maryann until, one day, after receiving my MAT, Maryann asked me to do the usual - walk the stairs so she cold assess my progress. I felt so good that, when I got to the bottom, I quickly turned around and ran up the entire flight (13 stairs, as I’d learned over the months that I’d had to climb them!).
My reason for writing this testimonial is twofold: First of all, to let you know about another successful case, directly attributable to Maryann Jackson and her masterful application of the Muscle Activation Techniques Therapy. Try it…it works! Secondly, I want to offer this as encouragement to those of you who may be reading this and have almost given up any hope of living a life without pain. Maybe your doctor has told you, as mine did, that you’ll be lucky to ever walk again, let alone do it without any pain. Whoever you are, wherever you are, do not, I repeat, DO NOT buy into their limited assessment. Most of them have never heard of MAT, let alone know what it is, nor how wonderfully it works. When they tell you that, all they’re doing is admitting that they have come to the end of their knowledge and, from their viewpoint, there’s nothing else THEY can do for you. Which is true, but they will never tell you in those terms. Do yourself a favor and stop relying on their limited judgment. Give Maryann a call and have her test you...and dream of the possibilities. The rest of your pain-free life is just a phone call away.
